We have an extensive in-house laboratory which enables us to process blood samples immediately at any time of day or night.

All our laboratory analysers are produced by IDEXX and feature state of the art technology.

We are registered with IDEXX Laboratory in Wetherby on their Quality Assurance scheme to always ensure accuracy of our results.

One of the major areas we are improving is our 'critical care' monitoring facilities.

These patients are usually extremely ill and don't have the luxury of time on their side.

The addition of the blood gas analyser and an ability to run individual biochemical assays will allow us to monitor the progression of our clients’ condition rapidly, accurately and more cost effectively than ever before.

Blood Tests

We are fully equipped with an extensive range of laboratory equipment that allows us to run blood samples immediately with results available within 5-10 minutes. We are therefore able to evaluate, diagnose and manage sick and critically ill patients more promptly and effectively at any time of day or night.

While many tests can be conducted in-house, there are instances where more specialised or complex tests are required. In these cases, we work with trusted external laboratories and receive results within 2-5 days.

Cytology

We have a binocular microscope in the practice which is used to perform routine dermatological examinations for skin parasites, fungi, and yeasts. We also perform in-house cytology on specially stained tissue, fluid and blood smears obtained from our patients. This latter application is invaluable in assessing our critically ill patients and making potentially lifesaving diagnoses early in the course of a disease.

Urinalysis

We can perform tests on urine in-house, giving us an insight into the health of your animal’s kidneys, test for diabetes, and assess urine infections rapidly allowing for further tests to be performed immediately if we have any concerns. This ensures your pet gets the appropriate treatment as soon as possible.
