In house laboratory

We have an extensive in house laboratory which enables us to process blood samples immediately at any time of day or night. All of our laboratory analysers are produced by IDEXX and feature state of the art technology. We are registered with IDEXX Laboratory in Wetherby on their Quality Assurance scheme to ensure accuracy of our results at all times.

In October 2008 we installed three new analysers to update and improve the quality of service we offer, especially to our critically ill patients where rapid assessment of blood samples is required. Our blood gas analyser gives us vital information about the status of our emergency patients in a matter of minutes from the sample being taken. We also upgraded our biochemistry analyser to allow us wider scope for diagnosing and monitoring our cases. The last piece of equipment allows us to perform hormone assays to assess thyroid and adrenal gland diseases.

One of the major areas we are improving is our 'critical care' monitoring facilities. These patients are usually extremely ill and don't have the luxury of time on their side. The addition of the blood gas analyser and an ability to run individual biochemical assays will allow us to monitor the progression of our clients condition rapidly, accurately and more cost effectively than ever before.

We also have three infusion pumps, enabling us to accurately administer intravenous drips to sick patients whom we have to hospitalise. As well as administering fluid the infusion pumps allow us to administer computer controlled constant rate infusions of certain drugs, painkillers and electrolytes, which are often essential in critical patients and require very accurate dosing.
